Help with an ankle sprain

Hi I am a teenager and sprained my ankle a few weeks back. Yesterday I sprained it again bad and got it checked out. Thankfully it’s nothing very bad and I was just told to rest it. I woke up this morning and there is bruising around the ankle, is this normal in a sprain?? I know this sprain is bad as I am struggling to walk properly as I only sprained it yesterday. Any tips on how to heal properly and thing you may have found working would be much appreciated.

Yeah I think when they say rest it, really try not to walk on it. Believe me I'm not a medical expert but I wouldn't bother doing anything on it. I did this about 2 years ago and luckily we had crutches in the house so I could get around but didn't have to weight bear. If you can get crutches for a few days or even one that will definitely help it heal but shouldn't hold you back too much. Hope this helps. But yeah try and actually rest it

RICE
Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate
Doctors say you should avoid putting weight on the injured area for 48-72 hours. Resting also helps prevent further bruising.
Elevate means raising the sore body part above the level of your heart so it doesn't need to be that high, you can prop your leg up on pillows while sitting on the sofa.
I've sprained my ankles so many times so I speak from experience LOL. Yes bruising is normal or at least it was for me. It does look horrible tho.
Idk how much ur walking around but if it still hurts, I would suggest to have a day off or 2 because you aren't doing urself any favors.
RICE helped me each time

Hi, thanks so much for the help. I know this may sound dumb but tomorrow is the last day of school for me. I’ve taken two days off of school to rest my foot. Do you think I’ll be fine going in for tomorrow. I know you probably feel that you aren’t the best person to answer this but anything from your experience would help.

Honestly It depends on how you feel and what you will do tomorrow. I know loads of people go out on the last day - would that put more strain on your foot, if you spent the whole day walking/being active? I understand that its the last day of school and sometimes its special to people. If you're feeling better and it doesn't hurt that much to walk, you could go into school but I wouldn't recommend doing anything else afterwards as your foot will still be fragile.
