English language NEA language investigation coursework

hey everybody i’m really struggling with my coursework at the moment. i’m not sure if this will be a really niche audience but i’m doing my coursework on the differences in language between male and female formula one commentators but i literally cannot find any videos or transcript of any female commentaries at all. so i’m just wondering if anyone else is doing anything similar to mine and knows where i can find anyy. Thankyou!

Hi! I've just finished year 13 and I also took English language, but I'm also a massive f1 fan too. I love your idea of looking at the language differences between male and female commentators!! Maybe you could look at pre race shows featuring both male and female commentators: for example ones with Natalie Pinkham or Naomi Schiff?
By doing this it would limit the amount of videos you would have to look at (which would save so much time trust me) and it may be easier to compare male and female commentating if they're in the same video I.e watching it once looking at male language and watching it again to look at female language.

I hope this helps!! If you have any other questions I'll be more than happy to help!!

Thank you so much!! and yes i’ve been looking a lot at natalie Pinkham and Naomi schiff but still a lot of the races i’ve been looking at don’t seem to have their commentaries in so i’m not actually sure where to go from here

In some races on the calendar this year, Bernie Collins has done a lot when she talks about strategies!

Hiya! I'm also doing my English Language NEA on F1. Although, mine is focused on multilingualism and how it impacts communication within the sport. For female commentators, I would definitely look into the pre and post-race shows. Normally there are female and male commentators explaining their opinions on teams/drivers. You can also look into F1 Academy, Nicki Shields is the female commentator who talks during the race - you could compare her with the F1 race commentators. There are lot's of opinions on her online about her lack of experience making the commentaries unexciting and you could talk about the misogyny that females face in motor-sports.

With transcripts, you could include hand-written transcripts as appendices - I think you can have an unlimited number of them - and also, to boost marks, you can talk about your method of creating the transcripts in your methodology.
Hope this helps! 😊
