Housing Options

Hi me and my partner hope to get married next year. Although a major concern is where will we be able to live. For example I had applied for a council house through housing registrar although the wait list is 12 years and the only advice they’ve given me is to look for private renting having spoken to an estate agent, we don’t make enough to pass the checks and we’d have to be in full time work. Does anyone have any advice what to do please. And she won’t be able to live at my mother house because of the lack in space and our preference is to have a house of ourself.

Are you a student? If so then get a part time job and save up and you will just have to live separately for now.
If you aren’t a student you haven’t mentioned any kind of disabilities (which would put you a higher priority on council house list) you should start looking for full time work asap

Hi my partner is. But she’ll graduate next year. Although I can’t live separately once we get married to one and other that too next year, although my council said there’s a 12 year wait for a council house.

I’m confused why you can’t live separately for a period of time in order to save up? Landlords are more likely to take you if you have a larger deposit and can pay more rent at once.
I take it you work full time already then?
Unfortunately as a couple both able to work and no kids etc you will be very low on the council list when there is people with much greater needs unable to work etc

Get a full time job then?

Hello, congrats on your forthcoming wedding! Tracking down a spot to live can be truly unpleasant, particularly with significant delays and high rental necessities. Have you investigated shared possession plans or lodging affiliations? They frequently have more adaptable models and could offer a more reasonable course. Another choice could be to search for rooms or more modest pads to lease at first, just to get everything rolling. In some cases nearby boards or noble cause offer counsel and backing for individuals in your circumstance, so it very well may merit connecting with them also. Hoping everything works out for you of karma in tracking down a spot and beginning this new section together!
