Uni - Leeds or Liverpool?

Hi,
I'm in Year 12 and will be an early UCAS applicant (Oxbridge) so need to sort out my 4 other options soon -- and I'm stuck for a safety between Leeds and Liverpool. I probably won't be able to visit both of them, so if anyone could respond (unbiased...) and help, please let me know. Here are some key points:
- I want to do politics and both of their courses are quite similar, so that's not a problem
- I want both a good nightlife and good social life outside clubs etc. so like green spaces, live music...that's all important to me
- Which city is nicer generally, since I've never been to either?
- I'd like a good chance of ensuite accommodation
- And a friendly community feel on the course and in the uni generally -- good students' union etc.
It's looking quite hard to decide icl because they seem so similar...I'd really appreciate if someone could weigh in on their thoughts whether you went to either uni or not

I have lived in both cities and I studied at Leeds Uni - I would definitely pick Leeds. Its a bigger and nicer city with a great nightlife. Liverpool also has a good nightlife but it is a rougher city.

Having relocated to Liverpool from South Yorkshire, I would totally recommend Liverpool compared to Leeds. Liverpool has a more open night life than Leeds. Leeds is like a larger Bradford to put it into comparison. Liverpool is a very affordable city, you have most concerts happening here, direct public transport links to major cities such as London, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield, etc. The wirral is the area that is rough, not the Liverpool side, and living expenses are not as significant as other major cities here. Please note this is an impartial review as I have not studied at either Liverpool or Leeds universities. Having studied at Manchester and lived in Liverpool, you really can not go wrong there. It is totally worth visiting, as you have Kirby, New Brighton, Blackpool and a 20 minute direct to Manchester if you fancy something bigger, whereas Leeds is in the middle of nowhere.

As I haven't studied in Leeds I can't comment too much on the universities there. However, I moved from Belfast to Liverpool five years ago and I haven't looked back Liverpool feels like a second home to me, I think with all major cities they are going to have their affluent parts and areas that aren't as such. However, most of the studenty areas are okay when I was in my second and third year I lived on Smithdown Road in Liverpool and loved it for the locality.

Open Days are a great opportunity to help make up your mind as you will get a sense of the university and whether you could see yourself studying there.

Both will be fab cities. But I would go Leeds, a great place to study and to socialise and at the foot of Yorkshire Dales

Hi, in terms of academics, the two universities are almost identical. They're both Russell Groups of similar prestige and you can't really go wrong picking one or the other as they're both fantastic.

I've heard Leeds is more of a party uni, so you may get a better nightlife there, but Liverpool's campus is definitely much more beautiful.
OP you may have already made up your mind by now, but (and I'm aware this may be totally biased of me) I absolutely recommend Leeds.

I did 2 years at Leeds Uni and I loved it. I also lived in Leeds for 27 years and it's an excellent city.
