Is it fine to take 4 paracetamol and 4 ibuprofen?

Is it fine to take 4 paracetamol and 4 ibuprofen in one go? When I Google it, it just says the recommend doses which I know but surely nothing would happen to me if I just take twice the standard dose of each but don’t go over the maximum you can have in 24 hours lol

Just take the standard dose as recommended.

Doesn't sound safe and personally I wouldn't do that. Just take a couple of Ibuprofen. I've suffered from gout and it's one of the worst pains imaginable, yet all I'd take at maximum is two Ibuprofen. I really don't see what stuffing 8 tablets in your mouth is going to do to alleviate pain quicker.

NO DEFINITELY NOT, unless you want to totall mess yu Liver up and turn a horrible yellow colour. You know, accidental Paracetamol poisoning is fairly common. You really have to take as little as possible. Depending on your body weight you MIGHT get away with 2 paracetamol, but then no more for at least 8 hours. IF you ever overdose do not wait, get to A & E and they will pump your stomach. NEVER DELAY GOING TO HOSPITAL and make sure you tell them at reception and you will jump to front of queue . Also, is also good if you have activated Charcoal at home as take that with water can help ADSORB Poison's .

I would not exceed the recommended maximum dosing.

Migraine

Appreciate migraines are horrible, but taking an overdose of medication is probably not the best way of dealing with them...

Taking 4 tablets isn’t going to give me liver failure though

The patient information leaflet (PIL) I have for a packet of paracetamol says this:

"Talk to a doctor at once if you take too much of this medicine even if you feel well." (emphasis in original)

The patient information leaflet (PIL) I have for a packet of ibuprofen says this:

"If you have taken more caplets than you should ... always contact a doctor or nearest hospital to get an opinion of the risk and advice on action to be taken."

I would suggest (as have others) that overdosing on over-the-counter medication is not a good idea.

If you're not happy with your doctor's approach to treating your migraines, you should ask for a second opinion.

If you are so sure about this, what's the purpose of this thread?

Because I can't find an actual answer to the question when I google it

No. The standard dose for an adult is 1000mg (2 tablets) every 4 hours for paracetamol. And ibuprofen once every 6 hours. Don't take both but cycle. Ibuprofen is stronger but when taken for extended periods of time puts stress on your kidneys so don't use for many days.

There aren't exactly many people on here who are qualified to give you the answer either... Dosing instructions exist for a reason though. You should follow them.

Aspirin works really well for migraines if you can take it.

I take both at the same time because they’re mixed with codeine and I want to get the higher codeine dose

Erm, where exactly is the Codeine coming from ?. There is no codeine in either Paracetamol or Ibuprofen so I dont understand . In any event you will end up harming yourself playing around with doses outside normal ones.

Nurofen plus and co-codamol, presumably.
