Hello!
On campus we have an underpass underneath Alexander Square where all the busses drop off and pick up students going into town. Nearly all the busses go into town and yes they go to the centre. Usually you won’t have to wait longer than 5-10 mins for a bus but often they are there when you get to the underpass! Some people do drive but most people get the bus.

In second and third year most people choose to live in town so commute to campus so the busses are very frequent!

Hope this helps,
Lucy (Lancaster University Student Ambassador)

Lancaster uni is very accessible. You have the bus that goes from the universities 'underpass' which is underneath alexandra square on campus. Bus comes every 10 mins or so. You have the 1a, or the 100. The 100 goes through a uni student area called bowerham, so it can take a little longer journey, but the 1a goes down the a6. Both lead to the city centre. The 100 also goes on from there to the seaside town of Morecambe, so its nice to go and get an icecream with friends, and they also have tin pen bowling there. Other buses from lancaster uni. The number 4 goes direct to the cities train station. You also have a bus that goes south to Preston, and another direct to Blackpool. Theres a wednesday bus which takes you to sainsburys in the city which is complimentary (if you spend i think its 5 pounds in store). Theres also a sugar bus which is a late bus which takes you back from the sugarhouse night club back to the campus in the early hours.

First year, it really depends on how often you use the bus, but for my daughter who went, she probably visited the city couple times a week at most since everything is on campus lol, so she did not need a bus pass (ran by stagecoach). But, if you live in the city, you do need a bus pass to go to the uni as you will be using it most days, and the bus pass for the 3 terms can be found advertised on their website come around September.
