Hello,

Have you considered York? We have a long established and award winning Computer Science department, plus, all the PG and UG comp science students I've worked with here have loved their course. We have a comp science ambassador on Unibuddy at the moment if you'd like to chat more about the course and York. Let me know if you want more information.

Yeah what’s the graduate prospects like percentage of students that go on to get a graduate role or are employed in tech like 12 months after and their average salary and do you help with internships

Hi.
Here are the most recent graduate destinations for York’s Computer Science graduates:
90% of Computer Science graduates (full-time, undergraduate, UK-domiciled) who graduated in 2021/2 were in employment 15 months after completing studies.

A Year in Industry is a possible option and is administered by the academic department. The department has strong links with a wide range of employers in the field.

The Careers and Placements team runs York Internships - paid, project-based internships exclusive to York students. These are typically up to 12 weeks in the summer vacation. The team also offers further information and advice about other experience opportunities and career options.

We also run a two-day careers fair in October with employers recruiting to internships, placement years and graduate roles. IT-related companies are among the attendees each year.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us direct at [email protected]
Best wishes,
Careers and Placements, University of York

Hey @RG.CS 🌟

I am really glad you are thinking about the career in computer science! It is truly a fascinating field to go into. Let me tell you more about The University of Essex and the degree we are offering.✨

Our BSc Computer Science course is the most flexible of our courses in computing, allowing you to choose from a wide choice of optional modules and to specialise in areas as diverse as assistive technologies, computer games, artificial intelligence, evolutionary computation, Big Data and robotics.🎓

Our School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering is a community of scholars leading the way in technological research and development. We are home to many of the world's top scientists, and our work is driven by creativity and imagination as well as technical excellence. That's why we are ranked 6th in the UK for research power in computer science (Times Higher Education research power measure, Research Excellence Framework 2021).🚀

The course is accredited by BCS and IET which opens you many doors after graduating. As part of your degree, you can either study abroad for one year at one of our partner institutions or alternatively, you can spend your third year on a placement with an external organisation. Recent placements undertaken by our students have been with ARM, Microsoft, Intel, Nestlé, British Aerospace, and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, as well a range of SME software and hardware companies.

When it comes to career prospects, you will be fully equipped to kickstart your career at various world-leading companies. Past Essex graduates in computer science have found employment as systems analysts, software engineers, programmers and systems engineers, while a number go on to postgraduate study or research. Our recent graduates have gone on to work for a wide range of high-profile companies including Formula One, Light Speed IT Solutions, IBM, Royal Bank of Scotland, Accenture, Google and many more.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch!

Hope this helps!

Hiya,

I have currently finished my second year in Computer Science and AI at the University of Sheffield so I hope I can give you a bit more of an insight into the course and life at Sheffield!

Our modules cover a wide of topics from the foundations of computer science to robotics to key techniques in agile development. Our lectures are supported with extra contact time in labs and tutorials, which I found to be incredibly beneficial as I was able to ask questions from lectures I did not understand or have assistance from the lecturers themselves or 3rd year students who had previously done the modules themselves.

Outside of the course, there are lots of extracurricular societies related to computer science you can try, for example game development or ethical hacking.

In terms of the city, I am from down south too and the change to the North is something I will not regret. Sheffield is an incredibly, friendly and vibrant city where the trees outnumber the people. The green spaces are perfect for a chill afternoon with friends after a lecture or for a park run. We also have the Peak District in just a short bus ride away.

I hope that helped but let me know if you have anymore questions!
Good luck,
Jivanthika

I am glad to hear you liked it!

Have you considered it as an option then? How did it compare to other places you viewed? Are there any questions you would like me to answer about the course or the city in general?

Let me know
