What are projected points, and how do they work ?

I've never heard the term, but I can take a guess as to what you might be referring to.

As part of the UCAS application process, your school / college will be asked to predict the grades you are likely to achieve. These are called predicted grades, and will influence the likelihood of you receiving offers from different universities. For example, if you're applying for a course whey require you to obtain AAA grades at A level, and you're predicted to get CCC grades at A level, they may be unlikely to make you a conditional offer for a place.

As there are so many different qualifications which universities accept (A levels, T levels, BTECs, Access to HE Diplomas, the IB, etc. etc.), which have different ways of grading, UCAS will assign "Tariff Points" to a given grade of a given qualification (see https://www.ucas.com/undergraduate/applying-university/entry-requirements/calculate-your-ucas-tariff-points). Many universities will specify their entry requirements in terms of these UCAS tariff points rather than based upon specific grades or qualifications.

So my guess is that your "projected points" is a combination of the above two concepts - i.e. the grades which your school / college predict you will attain, converted into UCAS tariff points.
