Do you think this is true?

When i broke up with my boyfriend he told me he used to really love me and see me as a future wife but then he saw me as the closest girl he could have sex with and said “that sounds really bad”. But after a few days told me it was bc he was angry. We’re still friends just not dating. Do you think he was telling the truth or just angry? He now says he genuinely loved me and saw a future with me and never used me for sex, thank you.
