what was the type of references your councils wanted from referees? was it more a confirmation of your work/studies or a character reference? and was it a form to fill out or more conversational?

It's possibly worth having an academic reference related to your degree and a professional or experience related referee.

Have you signed your official contract yet? I am still waiting for mine from my council.

Still awaiting my contract but my start date is looking to be 22nd September, mainly due to a holiday I have booked before!

I graduated my degree in 2019 and my masters in 2022. I worked in a market research company which was fascinating but by the 2 year mark, i hit a wall of poor work/life balance and interest in the area. Been working as an english teacher ever since and hoping to get into a new field soon 😊

I found out last week - Not EMCCA but also in the East Midlands. How long did it take for your council to get in touch with you?
