Hello.

I was a university student and from memory we only really knew what was going on with our course modules from early September onward post results day. This was when they were uploaded onto the studies page we used for accessing and submitting work known as 'blackboard'. Other than that all I knew regarding the modules I was going to take was what was listed on my courses university page online for applicants. Every University may be different with this, but that was my entering university experience.

I hope this helped

Hi there,

You should hear more about your course and the specific details for you from results day. With that being said if you look online at your university choices you will be able to find the modules that you will be studying over the course of you degree. You will also be able to find online when your universities start and when their freshers weeks are. Also most universities will have a freshers group page where they will release the different activities that will be happening on campus throughout freshers.

I hope this helps and good luck on your university journey 😊

Hi there!

I would recommend looking at the university's website as they will often have an overview of the curriculum available to look at. You could also get in touch with the university and see if they can put you in touch with one of the lecturers from Sociology and Education who could answer any specific course queries/ content questions you may have.

I hope this helps and enjoy university!

Hi @Medavies,

It's great to hear that you will be studying Sociology and Education at university. I know that here at UCLan, students will usually be given more information on their chosen course closer to their start date. You should received details around your course timetable and welcome week activities around August/September.

As mentioned above, you could see if you can reach out to any lecturers on your course to get more of an idea of your course structure although you can find information about modules and a course description through the university's website.

I hope this helps and all the best 🙂

Hi there,

At Hallam, we only tend to hear more about our course in September time when it is quite close to our course starting as this is when we get our timetables and find out what the modules are etc. Sometimes the modules are locked on blackboard so nobody can see the content and this might not unlock until we actually start our lectures. I remember in first year I had no idea really about what the specific modules entailed until we started the course properly in September, is it might be the same for you. Every university is different so you might get more information before this time!

If you want to find out some more information on your course and specific modules, sometimes there is more information available on the website if you look through this, or you could email your course leaders to find out if they can give you any more information or if they know when you will get more information on this.

Aside from this, the best way is to find people who have already done that course at the university you are going to and see if they have any more information they could give to you about the course and what it involves. Asking on here is a good way to start, or some universities are a part of The Ambassador Platform so it is worth looking if your uni is on here and if there are any students who do your course on here as you can ask them questions about the course and they will be able to answer your questions!

Or, just looking to see if you can find anyone else on your course on social media e.g. Facebook groups and see if anyone has any other information or knows anyone that has done the course!

I hope some of this helps,

Hi,

It’s great to see that you are thinking about studying at university.

As a UEL student, applying for Biomedical Science, we were given course information such as orientation dates, start dates and timetables after we have successfully enrolled into the course. This usually happens around end of August or beginning of September.

I found the course page very useful as this provides a brief overview of the course modules and information on how you will be taught and assessed. Additionally, it has the contact details for Academics, which means they can help with subject-specific queries.

I hope you find this information helpful and wish you all the best.
