What happens if you miss the start date of your course?

So, as an international student, I did my visa as fast as humanly possible, but I had to keep waiting for documents because all the counselors kept going on vacation, and then made multiple mistakes...I'm not even done with my visa application yet, and my course starts in September 2024. If it is rejected, I am afraid I won't get it re-applied in time and won't be able to start my course. Do universities ever allow students to be late? Would I just have to sit and twiddle my fingers for another year? I'm going to Chester, for reference. I guess I'm just stressed and depressed, and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience or reassurance or something.

Many Unis will allow you a week or so after the start of term because of visa problems, but its a decision for each individual University. Many people apply for visa much later than July - ie. because they dont get their results until August - and still manage to start Uni on time, so you do not need to worry at this stage. Contact your Uni for advice.
