SEND at university of york

I’ve been researching autism for a long while now and have silently come to the conclusion that I’m almost certainly on the spectrum, I’ve now started looking into getting a diagnosis but It’s obviously a very long (and can be pricey) process which I don’t see myself attaining before university or atleast not first year, what does York do in these cases? Is there any support provided for students who suspect they’re on the spectrum? Will they provide support in helping me attain a diagnosis is this possible? I’m very worried and my mum has said to call but I wasn’t entirely sure what number to call for this query. Do any students know? And/or if the official york uni account could respond would be grand !! (:

Hi, I'd recommend having a chat to the Disability Services team who can help set up a student support plan when you get here. You can call 01904 324785 or email [email protected] as they'll be able to give you specific advice. Hope this helps 🙂

Hi, I was going to go to York and ended up deciding on Lancaster instead. York seemed supportive from the research I did (I have diagnosed Dyspraxia and likely undiagnosed ADHD) and most unis are SEND-inclusive. I would talk to them and talk to people who are there, if possible.

Good luck! X
