Uni of notts physiotherapy

Hi there,

I live in Nottingham and want to study physiotherapy. I was initially looking to study physiotherapy at Cardiff or Sheffield. However, I had some personal circumstances that meant I need to stay at home in Nottingham for at least my first year of uni (and delaying my degree is not an option). I went to a notts open day and was happy to apply here in notts as well as to Sheffield.

I applied to Sheffield and have been offered a place after my interview which was fab- but travelling to Sheffield is not ideal as I need to stay in notts and then commute if I go to Sheffield.

I applied to physiotherapy at Nottingham and got rejected immediately due to a GCSE grade. This was upsetting as I'm actually predicted to get a higher level 3 grade than is asked for on the physio course.
Anyway, I contacted the university to apply to the foundation health science year as an alternative- I was rejected being told its full (after ALOT of misinformation and messing around from the uni). Obviously this is not ideal and didn't leave me with the best impression from the admissions officers (although the staff on the phone lines tried their best to help!).

I have now accepted my Sheffield offer and am prepared to travel. However, out of curiosity does physiotherapy go to clearing at all within notts? Or has it in previous years? For whatever reason- grades not met, changed minds ect.. I know a lot of courses have clearing slots but as physio is competitive-is it even worth keeping an eye out for spaces?

Also, I saw today that the foundation year health sciences is in fact on the university's website under clearing but it states "not physiotherapy pathway". That is quite frustrating because the foundation year doesn't guarantee you a place on whatever health course you do next anyway. So why are only those interested in physiotherapy as a next step being turned away and told its full...

Thank you for any insight
