What you haven't mentioned is the name of the qualification. However, from the list of units, I'm fairly sure it's a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Computing. Can you confirm?

Based upon the information you have provided, you have at least an MMM, and potentially a DMM or even a DDM. In order to provide a more accurate answer we'd need to know:
1. You marks for the Unit 1 and Unit 2 exams.
2. When you took the Unit 1 and Unit 2 exams (year and month).
3. When you took the Unit 3 and Unit 4 exams (year and month).

That information is necessary because your mark (not just your grade) has an impact, relative to the grade boundaries in effect for that particular exam series.

My mark for unit 1 and unit 2 I don’t have the mark for it. But I pass both in January 2023

Unit 3 and 4 taken in January 2024

The course is the one that you mentioned that what I taken Pearson btec level 3 national extended diploma in computing

Let's ignore Unit 1 and Unit 2 for a moment, as we don't know your mark. For Unit 3 and Unit 4 we have some maths do to.

As you may be aware, the way BTECs work is that each unit is awarded a certain number of points based upon your grade, the size of the unit, and - for exam units - the mark. They then sum the unit points to get the total points for the whole qualification, and map that to an overall grade.

Unit 3 and Unit 4 are both 120 GLH (guided learning hours) meaning that hitting the Pass boundary gets you 12 points, hitting the Merit boundary gets you 20 points and hitting the Distinction boundary gets you 32 points. But - importantly - if your mark was at the mid-point between the Pass and Merit boundaries, you get 16 points (the mid-point between the points for a Pass and the points for a Merit). Similarly, if you're 1/4 of the way through that grade, or 9/10 of the way through or whatever - it works on a sliding scale.

For Unit 3 you scored 32 out of 66. In January 2024, the Pass boundary was 22 and the Merit boundary was 35 (see page 7 of this PDF). That's a difference of 13 marks, and you were 10/13ths of the way through that grade. So rather than simply getting 12 points for the Pass, you also get 10/13ths of the 8-point difference between points for a Pass and for a Merit - i.e. an additional 6 points. So for Unit 3 you have 18 points.

For Unit 4 you scored 32 out of 68. In January 2024, the Pass boundary was 21 and the Merit boundary was 36 (same source as above). That's a difference of 15 marks, and you were 11/15ths of the way through that grade. So rather than simply getting 12 points for the Pass, you also get 11/15ths of the 8-point difference between points for a Pass and for a Merit - i.e. an additional 6 points. So for Unit 4 you also have 18 points.

Shoving those numbers into the official grade calculator (available here), we can see that you have a minimum of a DMM.

You might be at a DDM, but without knowing your mark for Unit 1 and Unit 2, we can't tell. (The data below assumes that you just reached the Pass boundary for each.)

Hi, could you check my recent post and let me know what grades I will need to get next year to achieve at least a DMM please? Many thanks

I don't think I can, I'm afraid. That post says you're doing "BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media", by which I assume you mean "Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice" (as you say "I have no exams"). Is that correct?

Creative Media Practice is graded in a very different way to other BTECs I've seen, and I'm just not sufficiently familiar with it, I'm afraid. Sorry. :frown:

(If I find some time, I'll try to read through the specification to decipher the grading, but I'm leaving the country tomorrow for a couple of weeks and am very tight on time as a result.)
