Option to have Maintenance Loan paid to Uni?

Has anyone ever heard of someone successfully opting to have all or part of their Maintenance Loan paid directly to their uni to cover fees?

Short of it would, I'm a disabled postgrad student who will continue to recieve Universal Credit during my studies, but at a reduced rate upon receiving the Maintenance Loan. So, it would work out better for me financially to most of my Maintenance Loan paid directly to my uni to cover the tuition in excess of my Tuition Fee Loan.

Otherwise, I'm looking at a funding shortfall of around £3,000 just for Tuition Fees (assuming my cost of living remains the same and I dump every extra penny from my Maintenance Loan into tuition).

Feels like a big ask of SLC and I doubt they'd approve, but could make or break my ability to pay for my course.

Obviously, I don't know until I ask, but just wondering if anyone's heard of this sort of this being approved?

(Shouldn't have to be said, but please be kind in the comments)

Hi Finnegansmistake,

If you are in receipt of the Postgraduate Loan, it is a contribution type loan that is paid directly to you to use however you wish. You can use this towards your fees however it isn't specifically for that as your fees would be between yourself and the university. If you require additional funding, you would need to speak to the financial department at the university for further advice.
