Note Taking

I am moving up into year 10 after the summer holiday. I have been taking notes in the past but they are rushed as I have been trying to get every peice of information down. How do I make my notes aesthetic, but also useful?

My note taking was awful but I have a few tips which helped me improve it which Is started using in year 11:

only write what you dont already know

If you already think you know something or you would like to listen to an explanation and not write it all down note the key words and leave some space so you can write down a paragraph later using active recall

Include sketches and colours to make it more engaging visually or humorous which will help you remember

Don’t waste time trying to make everything look pretty- if you want to after the lesson you can make revision notes (I did this for further maths, history and spanish at GCSE and plan to do this at a level for my subjects) which are neater but focus on getting points down in lessons

Hope this helps and happy to give further advice or explanation if you need it. Have a great day and good luck with year 10

Notion is useful. It's online so you can edit your notes easily so you can present them in a way that's useful to you
