Paris 2024 Olympics: Cycling

Welcome to the Paris 2024 Olympics!

~This thread is about all things Cycling~

Cycling is a staple of the Olympic games with many famous scenes in velodromes gone by. Britain usually fairs very well in the cycling events, with Sir Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins, Laura and Jason Kenny all household names of British sport.

There are many disciplines within Cycling-
- Road - usually one of the first medals to be won, this year the road race is being run later but the time trial has moved earlier.
- Track - around and around the velodrome they go - super fast speeds. Can any of the world records broken at Tokyo fall again?
- Mountain Biking - Another early event in the olympic schedule, and a very risky sport, I'll be watching closely
- BMX Racing - Exactly that. Usually Britain stands a good chance of medalling in this.
- BMX Freestyle - the most artistic of the events listed here, athletes score points by performing tricks of varying difficulty.

The schedule for Track Cycling can be found here.

Are you talking about the race or the freestyle section, maybe both? I prefer freestyle.

The race but both are good yeah
It's the women's mountain biking race right now, always a great event early in the olympiad
Another gold medal for France, tears all around.
Very tight for second place but it looks like it could be America's

Silver for GB yesterday in BMX Freestyle

Fantastic performances so far in BMX Sprint, all going well on two wheels for the British so far
My thoughts to Kye Whyte right now, hope he does well

Beth Shriever STORMING the BMX sprint though.

The question for the men's race - how many medals can the Frenchmen take?
IT IS A FRENCH 1 2 3

Lots of events in the Olympics have limits of 2 per country, so it is very rare these days to see an Olympic 1-2-3

Yes I think that I saw something similar for Jamaica (might not have been the Olympics though).

Also double loss for me this time (GB and France in last place in the women’s).
Sad times for Beth Shriever
