Paris 2024 Olympics: Gymnastics and Trampolining

Welcome to the Paris 2024 Olympics! :woo:

This thread is about 2-3 unique Olympic sports: GYMNASTIC (artistic and rhythmic) and TRAMPOLINING

We're combining them into one thread. :woo:

First up, artistic gymnastics:
A favourite of mine, 14 gold, silver and bronze medals are up for grabs here. Including individual apparatus medals, Men's and Women's All-Around and Team events.

Find the schedule for artistic gymnastics here

Next, Rhythmic Gymnastics:

Two medals available here: individual All-Around and Group All-Around

Finally, Trampolining;

Starting in Rio 2016, Trampolining is not a firm favourite in the summer games. The Bercy Arena plays host to this Olympiad's competition.

Jordan's first ever gymnast is out of the competition on pommel
Spanish men's team had a very dreadfully sad qualifying last rotation yesterday - 3/4 fell on p. bars and one of those couldn't complete the routine due to injury  They probably wouldn't have made the top 8 to qualify even without (unless another team had serious issues) that but probably not the way they wanted to wrap things up :frown:

Lot of people pancaking off high bar as well in the quals it seemed
Bronze for Jake Jarman

Gold for the Philippines - their second gold Olympic medal ever
Actually getting very emotional listening to Max Whitlock there

Interviewer and Hazel rightly saying thank you to an icon of British sport, and Britain's most successful ever gymnast

That's how to treat a champion, not building up with endless VTs of expectations of Gold like with Adam Peaty

And Max spoke like a true leader of British sport, so humble, and looked to camera and thanked us the viewers
Lots of falls today across the events for both men and women  (also some significant out of bounds steps/landings in the women's floor)

Commentators noted it might be a lot of physical and psychological fatigue after 9 days of competing for most of the gymnasts :s-smilie:

Some great performances though, and Italy getting it's first gold in women's gymnastics

Plus the TENSION - it was silent when the women were doing their beam routines. Gymnastics has always been a spectacle - where rivalries play out. But the drama was ridiculous - and the delays on the scoring was also rather torturous it must be said.

Yes, I read apparently Simone Biles commented how unusual it was to be performing on beam in near total silence. The whiplash for the floor scoring at the end was also a shock!

For the mens events it was just nail biting seeing just who could stay on and who would fall, I think at one point there were three in a row fell on landings for high bar D:

Indeed - I really felt for the Cypriot gymnast who fell at the end of his landing despite an excellent routine.

Yeah, it was especially odd how many fell on that exact same side! I wondered if maybe the mat was misaligned or something? No idea :s-smilie:

It was also sad to see Oleg Vernaiev fall on parallel bars :frown:
I have no idea about the rules and ratings in gymnastics, but Simone Biles' performance is the embodyment of elegance! it is mesmerizing to look on her.
