Access to HE grades

Hi all, I am seeing a lot of posts of how people were given grades for their Access course from tutors at there college. None of the folks on my course, including myself, were given these. Is this usual practise? And when should I expect my results? The awarding body is Ascentis, college have given no time scale or information on how results will be received. Any help is appreciated!

Hi, I've just completed an Access Course for Health Professionals. We were assessed on assignments so we were given our grades on each assignment throughout the course. The exam board which was AIM on our course, then verified the results and gave us certificates with our official grades the end of June.

Yeah we were never given grades for any of our assignments at all. So we literally have no idea what the outcome is going to be. It just seems really different to everyone else’s experience that I’m seeing. It’s a bit alarming!

Oh that is odd! I've also just finished my access course and we had grades given after every assignment

Omg! I've never heard of that before. Did you have a student portal of any kind? Ours were available on there and on feedback through Turnitin.

Nope nothing. We were told to just submit our assignments through a portal on teams, were given feedback but no grades.

I'm not sure then. On our course we had 20 assignments. Each one was worth 3 credits each. 15 were graded at either pass, merit or distinction and 5 were ungraded but had to be achieved. Is this how yours worked?

No we didn’t have as many as 20 assignments, some of ours were 6 credits each as well. It sounds as though each course/college/ awarding body is different but it definitely seems odd that none of us were given grades prior. Literally a waiting game with no idea of the outcome!

I’m like others on here got grades with each assignment and on the final exams at the end. I haven’t had the official grades yet but know what I have is unlikely to change. On the feedback you have is there not a grade descriptor part where the tutor ticks the achieved boxes? On ours there is a box for achieved(pass) achieved with further depth(merit)and excellent quality (distinction) (something along those lines). Although, I have read the UCAS official results are this Friday (26th July) for us. Hope you get answers soon.

No suggestion of any grades at all and it’s the same for all the students who did this course. I’m getting really worried. Just hoping I hear something on Friday!

Thanks Jess, I appreciate that. I have a conditional offer to start a nursing degree in September. Which is why the whole thing is so stressful!

Oh that sounds awful for you, the not knowing the outcome yet. I’m sure you will be fine. Fingers crossed for you . I’ve seen some Acentis students have received certificates and grade statements over the past few days hopefully yours will turn up soon. I’m with laser and there’s no sign of mine yet.

Hey, me too. Unfortunately, even though I received my official results from the examining board the end of June, I am still awaiting for my conditional offer to be updated to an unconditional one. Hopefully you'll hear soon. Which uni have you firmed?

Hello! I have taught on an Access program for over 10 years. Students are often given grades within 2 weeks when they submit work, however these are provisional grades and a sample is checked, usually alphabetically, by an internal quality person and an external one. It is the exam board at the end of the year when grades become official. College's can let you know the grades after the exam board - it is the awarding body that releases them to UCAS I believe via an online portal

Are only samples checked or all the grades checked for the grades to become official, lots of people on here have seemed to have gotten their grades back but i haven't heard anything from my college or ucas yet
