Which Laptop Is Best For Uni?

I understand that a good laptop will make uni life a lot easier. I’m going to be studying radiography (healthcare course), so please share some recommendations for great laptops that will last me a long time.

I currently have the Acer Aspire, which I used for sixth form. It lasted me 2 years then just crashed and stopped working.

Does the Acer power up so that you can at least see the Bios screen?
If it can, it can be repaired for free or for very cheap. It makes sense to do that before spending £150 to £250 on a used premium business laptop, such as a HP 845 G7 or 835 G7.

Windows goes kaput all the time, because it's such a clunky, bug ridden, insecure pile of something you'd scrape off your shoe if you trod in it. Reinstalling Windows or replacing it with Linux costs £0.

Thanks for the advice. It does power on but I thought repairing it would be expensive and a waste of time because I want a lightweight laptop for uni that I can carry around everywhere. My acers pretty heavy and not as lightweight as I would like it to be.
Sounds like you've just had a bit of good news. Getting your Acer back and working will be a lot cheaper than you thought.
It may be repairable for free. The most I'd expect it to cost would be about £30 for a new SSD.

It would be perfectly valid for you to have 2 PC's. The Acer, plus a more portable laptop.

Something like either of these 2 HP premium business laptops would be a nice addition to your IT setup with them being reasonably priced at under £200:
HP 835 G7
HP 830 G8
