Should I apply to St Andrews

I got 99999988877 at gcse and I'm predicted A*A*A*, but I heard they accept very few students from England. Should I bother with it?

I'd go for it if I were you, you have nothing to lose if you have a go and you might even get in. A couple of people in my year got in and my boyfriend's cousin goes there and they're all from England so don't let stuff like that put you off.

Ohhh okay, I'm just so worried because I've read a plethora of stories about rejections from Andrews over being English (or not Scottish)

I don't understand your question. I am sure that you can apply but I cannot predict whether you will get in. St Andrews is a top uni like Oxbridge, it’s silly to predict whether one can get in, as they reject stellar candidates

My daughter (Scottish) started at St Andrews a couple of years ago. At the offer holder day they said they had 25000 applications for 2000 places. So the majority of people will be rejected! Approx 30% of students are RUK, 30% Scottish and 40% international. So plenty of ruk students and actually relatively few Scottish students for a Scottish uni!

Also obviously to note it is a small uni so the large number of rejections is down to numbers they can take on.

Just found a recent foi that shows a 19% offer rate for ruk applicants.
