Accelerated Degree Funding

Anyone done a 2 year accelerated degree, I am confused about how much to expect for maintenance loan. I generally get full amount and special support grant as dsa student but not for a course that runs the whole year through.

Has anyone received full maintenance for an accelerated degree, what was the figure like, I’m trying to budget for upcoming term but sfe calculator doesn’t allow you to put accelerated course when calculating

Hi BeccaC88,

The reason the calculator doesn't have the option for accelerated degree years is because it is the same standard support. Just use the calculator as if you were attending a normal full year course and it will confirm the approximate entitlement.

Hi Claire, I was told because the course has no summer breaks it would be longer then the standard 30 weeks in a degree year. I was told there is an additional weekly payment of around £130-140 for the additional weeks of study, I’m trying to get an overall figure for support for the whole year so I can see where I need to budget. The calculator calculates based on 30 weeks of term equating to a year. This is not what is required on an accelerated 2 year degree
Hi BeccaC88,

That is the approximate provided, the only way to have the correct entitlement confirmed will be when you apply and the assessors calculate your weeks. It is referred to as a 'Long Course Loan' that is added to the entitlement based on the additional weeks you attend.

Thanks, Clare
