Ucas Predictions

Just finished y12 and im predicted A* B B
I need an A* A* A unfortunately

I got predicted B for RE but my teacher did mention at the start of yr 13 on sept there will be tests and chances to improve. So I have faith to get this hopefully an A or A*

Unfortunately predicted a B for english and I dont think my teacher will change it. I asked her three times if there will be tests and she never knows. There is just a november mock which is for all subjects anyways. I did ask her if i could retake or do extra work over the summer and she said no. The school has set a deadline to submit ucas predictions on september 26. im worried that i messed up 😕

When you say you "need an A* A* A", that sounds like you're already targeting a particular university and know their grade requirements. Are you?

Schools often set ridiculously early deadlines to submit your UCAS application. Feel free to ignore them. They may get upset, but they have absolutely no right to jeopardise the universities to which you can sensibly apply by setting deadlines months before the official UCAS "equal consideration" deadline in January. Unless, of course, you'll be applying for one of the courses / unis which have an October deadline (Oxford and Cambridge, and for most courses in medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine/science). Are you?

If you're targeting the October deadline, as you know your course needs A* A* A, then you are likely to have a problem due to that English prediction. :frown:

OK. If you're planning to apply in December, that must mean that you're not targeting Oxford, Cambridge, or most courses in medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine/science. In which case there's absolutely no need for your school to be insisting on submitting your predicted grades in September.

By the way, they can't add your predicted grades to the application until you submit the application anyway. So you control the timescale here. You complete the form and submit it. Only then can your school add predicted grades, reference information etc., and submit it to UCAS. So whilst they can (and will) complain at you, if you don't submit the form until December, they can't add their predicted grades until then anyway.

Having said that, they might make their predictions in September and simply not update them if you do extremely well in the November mocks. That you can't control.

I see thanks for the relief there. All I gotta do is hope my school won’t be so harsh to keep this mock.
