Failed 2 modules Aston university

I’m in first year at aston university and I found out today i failed 2/8 of my modules and will have to resit them at the end of August. I am certain I will pass one of them but don’t have much hope for the other as I really struggled with the module. I’m wondering what would happen, and whether I would have to retake first year? I am supposed to move into my second year accom two weeks after the resits but won’t have my resit results. I’m scared I will fail my resit and will have just wasted money as I have to pay a deposit for my second year accom at the start of August. Any advice pls i’m really stressed
Do they form a part of a prerequisite for any second year subjects? Usually if not, then you can move on and just resit that module the following year. If it's a prereq then you need to ask your uni

Hi,
I'm also at Aston uni. like the other reply mentioned, what sort of module is it? Is it a core module? you can usually tell if it's core by checking the credit, if it's 30, it's a core module. if it's15, it's not.
You don't have to repeat the entire year usually, if you have only failed one module. You might have to just re-do the module (If it's core) based on the exam board decision obviously. You can sit an exam 3 times, but it will be capped at the second and 3rd try. If it's not a core module, you might just be able to re-sit the exam again next year with your second year exam in May.
I think the best way is to contact your school student support, cuz regulations might be different on different degrees.
Now, I think ( NOT sure ) that you can pass a stage with 100 credits instead of 120, if it's not a core module, but I believe when you get your degree, it won't be honours. i.e. It'll be BSc instead of BSc (Hons) and might affect your degree classification as well. But definitely double check this with uni.

Also, If you're not confident on the subject or module. It helps if you start studying for it early and contact the module leader. They are normally very supportive. make use of WASS appointment if you don't live close by to go to uni in person and ask your lecturer about any bits that you're unsure about. Getting a 40% for a pass is usually doable, even if you struggle with the subject. Good luck!🤞

Thank you. The module is 15 credits, all of my modules are. I’m just very stressed at the moment because I move into my second year accom before I even find out if i’m able to progress to second year. Just unsure if this will affect my student finance
