I scored a 68 at Open Uni doing my first module (A111 into to humanities), is this an average score for first year?

68 is a high 2:1 as 70 is the boundary for a first so I'd say you're doing better than most

The OU grades differently, so 68 is a pass 3, C-band mark.
The grades are usually like this at undergraduate level:
85 - 100 Pass 1, A-Band
70 - 84 Pass 2, B-Band
55 - 69 Pass 3, C-Band
40 - 54 Pass 4, D-Band

You've done okay and, as it's stages 2 and 3 whose modules count towards your final degree grade, you have a good basis to build upon and improve as you work through stage 1. It's a good start really.
