I think it's important that it feels relaxed and you are able to talk. This is why a cinema wouldn't be good, as you wouldn't be able to talk. If you did want to go see a film, maybe go to dinner before or after.
I'd say a better option would be a picnic, if the weather is good. Or perhaps a cute cafe with cakes or coffee. Both of these are relaxed with plenty of time to chat. If you're looking for something more exciting, maybe try an event you are both interested in - maybe there's a parade or a festival - I don't mean like Glastonbury, I mean something local that can be done in a day or less.
The other option is to choose based on your shared interests and what you have learned about her from messaging online. For example, if you both like aa particular band, maybe go to a concert. If you both like art, try a gallery or a workshop. If you both like a certain show or comic book try a convention / comic con. Not only would this be fun for both of you, it would also show you take an interest in her and her interests.

Go to a comic book store and show her the BATMAN comics.

Hi, I like to think of a First date as a bit of a threesome... let's think about that for a second 🤔.. OK, enough about her best-friend (that ain't gonna happen lol).:naughty:.

Joking apart, what I'm getting at, is that it's good to pick something that has a theme and allows you to be sociable, and you can both focus on. As you say, the movie theatre isn't very sociable, and I would advise against a dinner date (IMHO, far too formal and lots of opportunities for uncomfortable silences to develop). For a first date, I would keep it fairly simple... If you're old enough, go to a pub with something like a pool table (it's a two person sport, it's one of those sports it's OK to be rubbish at... and you get to check out her ass as she bends over the table to get that tricky shot 😜). Alternatively, what about going to a pub quiz? Could show off your general knowledge, or at least have a laugh about your lack of it. There are other theme in pubs you can try... just avoid anything too lively like Weatherspoon's.

If you both like animals, can you arrange something like dog walking together... or maybe horse riding?

If you live in London, maybe take a walk together along the South Bank. You go past the Houses or Parliament / Big Ben; the Millennium Wheel; and during the summer there's always loads of free stuff going on along down there... especially during the summer months (concerts, plays etc). On the other hand, if you don't mind paying for attractions, you've got The Tate Modern; The London Dungeons; The National Theatre; ITV studios etc. There are also various river cruises you can take... both day and night.

Find out what she likes, and then surprise her by doing it - you've just demonstrated you know how to listen, which puts you ahead of the curve
