Is my first year uni resit exam in-person?

I'm at the Uni of Manchester. I failed one of my first year economics modules, and the re-sit is in August. But all the exams we did for this module were online, so will the re-sit be remote online as well, or will it be in-person? Is there anyone from UoM who can hep me with this. Also I'm an international student, I don't have anywhere to stay in August if I have to come to Manchester to do my in-person resit. What do students do about this?

It will probably be online because the usual SoSS policy is to have the assessments follow the same format.

With that said, a quick email to the assessment team should clear it up.

As an aside, and I'm not saying this to have a go, but in the case of resits, you are strictly expected to be in the city during the reassessment period (indeed your contract with the University specifies this). Just be aware of that for upcoming years and have some sort of contingency plan - especially because many unit leaders want to move back to in-person examination.

hi, thanks for the reply. I did email them, twice over the past week, but I have not got any reply. What is SoSS, sorry I'm not aware. And also if this re-sit were to be online, how do they check if I'm in Manchester or not? sorry for asking too many questions, but the university has not been relying to me at all, so I don't know where to get information.

The School.of Social Sciences. This is under the assumption you're on an economics course, and not under another School just doing Econ course units (eg BMAN doing a finance degree).

You can also nip into or ring up their School Hub to ask about this kind of thing. Your first stop should be your Academic Advisor, who can fibd out all this stuff for you. If you haven't spoken to yoyr AA, I very much recommend that you get to that as soon as you can.

Regarding being in the city during examination periods, they know when students aren't there and then flap about not being able to get to an in-person resit. There is little sympathy in such circumstances, I'm afraid.
