Don't want to do nursing

Hi I am going into my 3rd of nursing in September and as much as I want to drop out I can't and I will finish and graduate. I don't want to do a nursing job, mainly because I haven't been enjoying the profession much and it has been causing me stress. What jobs can I get with a nursing degree or what extra training can I get on top of nursing that will qualify for something different or what masters can I do straight away after graduating ?? Pls help

You could do a pre-reg masters course for a different health profession. Have you considered radiotherapy? The role offers much better working hours as the shifts are usually weekdays between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm.

But I read somewhere that radiotherapy has lower career progression as compared to nursing. Is it true?
Secondly, what is pre reg masters? I wish to know about it. Thanks.

You can progress to band 8 positions as a consultant radiotherapist with experience, drive and by taking professional development qualifications. A pre-reg masters is a course for those not already registered in the field. Pre-reg masters usually attract undergraduate funding (tuition fee and maintenance loans) with SFE rather than the standard postgrad masters funding (it's worth asking SFE to check if a course is listed on its database as pre-reg). I’ve been a nurse for 5 years now. I found some of my NHS roles extremely tough so I can empathise. So far I have stuck it out and now have a lovely job working for a health charity from home as specialist nurse and support worker. Check out Charity Job for roles. In my experience, employers in the health/ charity space really value a nursing degree for the skills and values required 🙂. If you want to move away from the clinical aspect of nursing, I really enjoyed being a school nurse for a while- office-based, educating children etc. I know this doesn’t exactly answer your question but just thought it would be useful to mention that there are loads of jobs where you’re still a nurse but it’s not particularly ‘nursey’ if that makes sense! And no extra studying required. Although I still dream of doing something different.. maybe one day! Good luck 🙂 x
if you enjoy working within healthcare, there are postgraduate degrees such as speech and language therapy or radiotherapy!
