what entry requirements should my backup uni be for 4A* predicted?

finished y12 and i'm predicted 4A*, i want to apply to cambridge, imperial, ucl, one of kings/warwick/bath/bristol, and then i obviously need a much safer option but i'm not sure what entry requirements my fifth choice should be, is AAA okay/too high? also, do i need a second back up option?

Not sure what your subject is but i would goo AAA-AAB in a uni out of London. Somewhere good but far less competitive than you have on your list.

ok thank you! my subject is computer science. i was wondering if i could apply to loughborough since it's AAA but would that still be way too competitive?

I think that's a really good choice.
Computer science is particularly competitive so perhaps shave off one of the other competitive ones to have two back ups. All the ones you listed are stunningly difficult to get into.

As above, having all completive choices for a subject like CS is very risky. Every year, we see posts from those that did this and who then have no offers and/or no comfortable Insurance choice. Combine that with exam-reality and not feeling as confident about grades and you have a recipe for panic.

I would advise you to choose Cambridge and only two of your other choices. Make your final two choices less competitive, lower grade choices - Loughborough would be a good choice, and somewhere like Liverpool, Cardiff or Sussex for your 5th choice.

For your fifth choice, AAA is a reasonable backup requirement given your predicted grades of 4A. It might be wise to have a second backup option with entry requirements lower than AAA to ensure you have a safety net.
