I’ve thought for several months that it will be one of Patel, Badenoch, Braverman. Although rumour is Braverman is struggling to get enough MPs to support her.

It will likely be a One nation Tory who has the most backing of MPs vs one of the name above. With one of those names winning among the Conservative membership.

It will not be anyone from the right of the party, although I do not know how many are left now.

Tugendhat has put himself forward.

He could make an interesting choice of Tory leader, given his positions on defence and foreign policy in such volatile times.
Given the first stage will be determined by MPs, here's a spreadsheet of endorsements to date: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1z66vstPc0ZRXDAVxUBwoi6sAia4DnXKRESta32k85dM/edit?gid=0#gid=0
Bumping this given it's conference week and they're all making gaffes :bump:

The various pronouncements by Badenoch are starting to remind me a lot of Liz Truss.
So we are down to our final 2 but there was drama.

In round 3 of MP voting Tom Tugenhat was eliminated. The round was “won” by James Clevelry with 39 votes. The magic number to get to the final 2 was 41, so he was 2 off and sure to get at least 2 voted from Tugenhats supporters.

It seems then Cleverly supporters got a bit brazen. They wanted to be in the final round against Robert Jenrick rather than Kemi so seemingly lent some votes to Jenrick. This backfired as Cleverly fell to 37 votes, with Kemi on 42 and Jenrick 41.

So the final 2 are Kemi Badenich lead fighter in the culture (red hot favourite) and right wing road to Damascus convert Robert Jenrick

Great to see the effervescent Christopher Chope chiming in with his take on family values.

Hi! I am a masters student at Kings College London, doing my dissertation on young Conservative perceptions of British national identity. If anyone is a member (or knows any young members!) of the Conservative Party who would be interested in participating in a 30mins-1hr online interview with me, please reach out!
