I was an intern at a small UK-based online bank, and we had a case involving a client with a CIFAS marker. Based on my experience, a two-year sentence is relatively light, likely due to the small amount of money involved and the fact that you held a personal account there, not a business account.

Yeah my suspicions have been confirmed. If your are 16-17 the marker will last 2 years, 18-21 3 years and over 21 the full 6 years.

On November 2023 misuse of facility marker was applied to me which I take full responsibility for I was 16 and the value was £200 and the expiry says November 2025 so they must’ve have changed the legislation

It's not a solid rule btw, they can impose the full term if they choose, regardless of age.

They do seem to be taking a more lenient attitude to younger people now, but there is no legislation compelling them. I suspect any attempt to make it law would have strong pushback from Cifas members.
