Applying for a doctoral loan with existing unpaid undergraduate loan

Can I apply for a loan to do a PhD while I already have an undergraduate loan from years ago, which I’ve not yet started paying back?

Hi there,

Are you in arrears for the undergraduate loan?

Thanks,

No, I believe not. I’ve simply never earned enough to start paying it off!

Thanks for confirming.

If you're not in arrears and never received Doctoral funding then you would be eligible for the support. Our applications for 24/25 are currently live.

Thank you! So, just to confirm, arrears doesn’t mean the money generally not paid back, but money that should’ve been paid if you were earning enough?

Arrears is essentially you've missed repayments and are further behind.
