Hi there!
If you're considering the Part-Time Bar Practice Course (BPC) at the University of Law (Leeds), you're looking at a great opportunity to build the skills you’ll need to succeed as a barrister. The BPC is the key vocational stage in training, and it prepares you for the final stage: pupillage.
The course is designed to help you develop your advocacy, communication, and leadership skills. You’ll be supported by an experienced academic team and benefit from advanced learning technology, which makes it an ideal environment to build the confidence you need to thrive at the Bar. Many students appreciate the practical workshops and the real-world legal experience offered throughout the course.
What’s great about the part-time option is that it allows you to pace your studies and fit everything around your schedule. The university has a fantastic support system, so even though you're studying part-time, you'll still get the same level of dedication and feedback as full-time students. Plus, there's the added benefit of the Future Pupil Programme to support your pupillage applications, which is super helpful.
If you’re feeling worried about the workload, I’d say that the structure of the part-time course is designed to be manageable, but it does require good time management. Most people I’ve spoken to find that they’re able to balance study with other commitments as long as they stay organised.
Just a heads-up: the application deadline for the January 2025 intake is Friday, 3 January 2025 at 9 am (UK time), so if you're interested, make sure to apply before then.
Best of luck!
