Re-starting law in a better university

Hi everyone,

I’m seeking advice regarding a decision I must make about my law studies. I’ve just finished my first year of LLB Law at QMUL and recently received an offer from KCL, which I applied for at the beginning of the year. Now, as I’m about to start my second year, I can either restart my law degree at KCL or continue my studies at QMUL.

My main concern is how this decision will impact my chances of securing a training contract at a competitive law firm, which is my ultimate goal.

I know that choosing KCL will be costly and time-consuming since I will need to re-do my first year of Uni. However, it is a sacrifice that I am willing to make if it genuinely improves my chances. Would people with more experience than me advise me to transfer?

Thank you in advance for your help!

This is very similar to a post I just responded to about law with French law - are you the same person? In any event, changing university will not improve your chances. The most important factors are how well you perform at QMUL, your extra curriculars and the strength of your assessment/ interview.

This is my first post on the Student Room so I do not believe that it is me who asked a similar question! Thank you very much for your advice, I will focus on maintaining good grades at QM.

Speaking from personal experience... KCL is NOT worth it.

Okay thank you for the advice. What was your issue with KCL if you don't mind me asking ? Because the uni has a far better reputation than QMUL if I'm not mistaken.

Absolutely HORRIBLE admin.
Don’t give a crap about students.
Money grabbing, felt like they just wanted my money instead of giving a proper education.
Threatening me for late rent
