Finance / Accounting work experience in West Midlands

I've just finished Year 12 and I'm intending on applying to a degree apprenticeship in finance when applications open September time.
However I've been told degree apprenticeships specifically finance ones are extremely competitive and hard to get into
Is there anything i could do over the summer that would make me stand out?

Hi, yes that's correct - finance degree apprenticeships are extremely competitive so it would be very valuable to spend your summer building up experience and skills. Some things you could do include doing online courses, volunteering and learning some new skills. If you want, I can send over a more detailed checklist of what you should ideally do over your summer to make yourself an attractive candidate who stands out when it comes to applications.
Work experience is also super important, and I think is the number 1 reason why I managed to get 8 degree apprenticeship offers. If you want, I can send over a list of virtual work experience opportunities available right now in the finance industry. Virtual programs are really easy to do (just need a couple of hours of commitment) but they are still valued really highly by employers. Let me know and I'll send these over.
