getting glasses

Hey, I'm new here. My name is Dylan. I just had my eye test today and found out that I'm short-sighted and need glasses. I'm really nervous about it since I'm only 13. Does anyone have any advice on what sort of glasses to go for? I would be very grateful. Thank you!

Glasses are fine, you get used to them quickly.
I got my first pair when 15. You’ll find that you won’t get as badly short sighted as people who first got glasses in childhood if you first got yours as a teenager.

The age you get your first glasses has very little to do with the level of myopia you will have. I know a lot of people who are mildly myopic since childhood, on the other hand people who only got glasses at highschool and are severely myopic by the age of 30-40....

Hey Dylan, welcome to the glasses wearers club.

I got glasses when I was 12.

Pick a frame that is modern and suits you. It depends on the face and your overall style. If you only have to wear glasses for certain tasks and not all the time it should matter less.

Good luck!

I meant as in the progression/as a general trend. At least that’s what every single optician I’ve seen in the past few years has told me.

Actually now it is more and more common when even people who started wearing glasses later in life develop higher myopia.

No need to be nervous. I’ve had glasses since I was 6. Id go for clear frames as they seem to be quite nice!

Actually, I tried firmoo and was a bit disappointed, expected a bit higher quality for the price, espcially the polarized coating that was ruined after half a year, had to change the lenses .... I also used eyebuydirect, zenni and zeelool and even aliexpress.
Most online shops are very cheap and pretty low quality, but completely worth it for style. I mean if you have 1 decent pair from a local optician that will last long you can play with ordering 10 pairs from an online store for different styles. I do it. I have like 5 pairs I use these days, 3 of them were bought online. Actually I have many more pairs that are still useable and I don't use them mostly because they are not my prescription.
