Can I enter an essay competition as a private candidate?

I've been looking at economics essay competitions to enter but all of them say to write the school you attend but I'm homeschooled so should I just write private candidate where you normally would write the school you attend or is there no point entering if you don't attend a school as they won't acknowledge it.

Usually if you're homeschooling they allow you to put it as an option (You wouldn't write you're a private candidate). Some competitions may be open to state schools only therefore only people from comprehensive and grammar schools can enter.

If you haven’t already, I think it's worth emailing the organisers to double check whether you can enter the competition or not. I hope this helps!

Sorry, I just logged in today but from what I read there is nothing explicitly stating home-school candidates cannot enter as long as you are studying in the UK. It might be too late if you haven't submitted into LSESU yet but the Marshall Society have extended its deadline to this Sunday. Good luck!
