Remarking to get place at firm (what happens to insurance?)

Im a bit unclear on this part of results day.
If I havent been accepted by my firm choice, but have a place from my insurance BUT I decide I want to get my papers remarked (to see if they can go up so my firm will take me), will this mean i have to reject my insurance place? or do I keep it whilst letting my firm know im getting my paper remarked?

In this scenario, you would call your firm uni and tell them that you're requesting a "review of marking" (which is what it's called) and ask them to hold the place whilst that happens. UCAS suggests that in this scenario a uni holds your place until 4th September. However, the uni are not obliged to hold your place until that particular date (they might specify another date), and aren't actually obliged to hold your place at all. In all likelihood they will hold it, but they don't have to under UCAS rules.

Then, if the review goes in your favour, you send evidence of that fact to your firm and they arrange with UCAS for your insurance place to be swapped out for a confirmed place at your firm.

Note that this scenario can cause problems with accomodation, so ask your firm uni to hold that too. (Someone in TSR had this exact scenario last year, where Edinburgh held their place and confirmed it following the review, but the student then had to defer for a year as there was no accomodation available.)
By the way @anonymou4930, I've just changed the title of your thread as this question has nothing to do with Clearing. I hope that's OK.

As above - Unis will honour the results of any remark that meets the offer, and they will then unpick their Reject decision and sort out the decision with your Insurance.

The important thing is that you tell your Unis that you have asked for a remark - an email will do - and that you tell them what the result is, even if it hasn't changed your grade,

Do I need to also inform my insurance I am asking for a remark?
