My 5 choices for philosophy as an international student

I want to study philosophy as an international student in the uk and struggle to decide on my 5 choices (I do not know anything about the uk other then London).
I’m currently thinking on applying to: Cambridge, ucl, king’s, the royal Holloway and can’t decide the fifth.
would love any opinion or advice on what other unis should I consider and on the unis I have written above
Tnx

Choose an out-of-London Uni with much lower grade requirements than your other choices.

It is not realistic just to recommend universities as we are all different and everybody will have different ideas. I will outline the position.

The first really big thing to say is that Royal Holloway isnt in Central London. It is in a leafy suburb near Windsor and wont give you a feeling of being in London.

Cambridge is also a small city totally different to Inner London.

Ask yourself do you want an inner city or someone smaller. If you want a city experience look at Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Bristol. If you want smaller places look at Durham, Exeter and Lancaster in addition to Cambridge and RHUL.

These are all competitive, (and thus risky), choices regardless of your grades.

Are you applying to options in your home country? IE. Would you be that bothered if you ended up with no UK offers, or only one very high grade requirement one?

I’m also applying to places in the USA and in Europe. I thought the royal Holloway wasn’t too selective, is it not?

smaller cities are much nicer to study and experience UK life. I told my son he was not allowed to go to London.. too big, expensive and less of a student community feel.

Your son must be very precious given that according to the thread below you're only 18 yourself! 😁😳😁
