The Student Room Group

Post graduate loan

I’m 56 and planning to take early retirement so I can go to university and do postgraduate study. I did an HND in 1989. I also have a professional accountant qualification which my employer paid for. Am I eligible to apply for a student loan? I plan to start my studies in 2025.

As long as you have never had a PGL before, don’t hold a masters degree and are studying a full masters degree (and are under the maximum age) then you should be eligible

Yes, that's right - this all sounds fine.

In case you haven't seen this, this is how the Masters Loan works.

Thanks, Graeme
