Urgent university questions there are loads of questions

Hi everyone I have loads of questions about uni as everyone in my family is foreign and the school doesn't give that much guidance. First of all, can people get a good score on the TMUA if they start prep now? Second of all, what degree is better, Maths or Economics? Third of all, how important is a uni ranking in terms of getting a high paid job? And is anyone studying Maths and Economics at LSE and what are the employment prospects like? Also how am I supposed to write a really good personal statement? These are the things I am mainly worried about, thank you so much for reading this.

TMUA takes a while to prepare for, I can't give any assurance on when the best time to start is. The best time for you to start preparing would be today.

Both are good, but of course it would depend on what you want to ultimate do in the future. Generally, maths opens the most doors, but economics can be a good option as well.

Most employers (aside from a select few for finance and potentially law), don't care about the ranking of your university. They're more concerned about your degree classification and what experience you have.

I don't study at LSE, but some course data is available to view here.

UCAS has some advice to writing a personal statement here, and LSE has also posted advice here. There are plenty of other sites you can find advice on.
Yeah, you can start TMUA prep from now and have a decent chance. I think most people will have started earlier but you should still be fine. "What degree is better" is a very subjective question. Both have good prospects, if that's what you're wondering. It would help if you would be more specific. Uni rankings often contradict each other, but it is true that some universities are more prestigious in general than others. For some professions such as investment banking, university prestige significantly matters (for investment banking, LSE, Imperial, Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and Warwick are the best, but there are also some semi-target universities that are slightly less prestigious). However, university prestige doesn't matter for every profession. A good personal statement will generally contain at least 70% supercurriculars (things related to the subject you want to study at uni that you've done outside a levels such as reading subject related books etc - you can find many examples of these online, and general advice on the websites of the universities that you're interested in). Also, LSE Maths and Economics has very excellent prospects and earning potential.
