Why do I keep getting rejected from entry level retail jobs

Ive been applying on and off for about 2 years. I've applied to maybe 100 to 150 entry level retail jobs and have only had 5 interviews. I've got volunteering experience in retail and freelancing experience in photography and videography. My availability used to be after school and weekends, but now that I've finished my a level exams i'm fully flexible, but I've only seen a handful of jobs since my last exam, even though I live in quite a big area. I've been offered an interview from McDonalds but the application process was too convoluted (they offered me interview time slots which were taken 3 minutes into being offered them. They also asked if I like to skydive). I've also been offered an interview from others, and I feel I've aced them, but haven't been offered anything. Why do I keep getting rejected?

I think the job market is very tough atm. Even for those types of typically low-skilled jobs. There seems to be a lack of jobs and many people applying for them. Don’t get yourself down, keep trying and one of them will lead to a job.

In the mean time, maybe try practicing interview questions and using the STAR technique as that is what many companies look for. 🙂
