Should I get a history degree before pursuing archeology?

I am currently enrolled on a history masters but due to family problems I will be require to resit the first year. In the long run my idea was to hopefully do a post graduate degree in archeology but now I’m unsure wether to leave the history degree and just apply to start a 4 year archeology course
Several questions.

Do you already have an undergraduate degree? You mention a masters though, but also suggest doing a 4 year (?) archaeology course.

Are you planning to study in the UK? UK undergraduate degrees are normally 3 years long.

What level do you wish to study archaeology at? Generally speaking if archaeology is your goal then if you haven't already earned an undergraduate degree it would be sensible to just do a degree in archaeology.

Im in year one of my history degree that is a masters and haven’t already got an undergraduate degree. I’m unsure wether to complete the course I am currently on or leave and switch to archeology, I just wasn’t sure if I should complete the history degree first or not or if it would be beneficial to an archeological degree

WWhen you say it's a masters, do you mean a type of integrated undergraduate masters degree (I.e. a 4 year undergraduate degree in the UK - sometimes offered as a 5 year degree in Europe)?

And are you currently studying in the UK? Or planning to study in the UK?

Generally if your aim is archaeology at the outset it probably makes sense to just do an archaeology degree directly.
