I'm also thinking of German a level but I hear its not like gcse ?

Yeah it’s not from what I know. You have to study a book and a film and write essays on them. You also need to study the culture and politics of German speaking countries (probably focus on Germany). Look up the spec for your exam board or find a video explaining the course structure to see if it will appeal to you.

I dont take a language, I just have friends who are hoping to and so have heard them yammering about what it’s like! You could start a thread asking for people’s experiences which a level languages?

All schools in England can offer F Maths

Mine didn’t 😂 my brother asked about it and they said they don’t do it because they’d rather people do well on 3 A Levels than having a 4th one (even tho it’s further maths so it’s only building on regular maths).

Well even if they don't have anyone who could teach it then tuition is available from AMSP. Not allowing that as a 4th is crazy and might stop certain degree choices.

It’s not necessary to do further maths at A Level unless you’re aiming to do maths at a russell group university (as some of their entry requirements need further maths) otherwise, you don’t need it and it’s not worth the extra stress.

My brother didnt do further maths and is so glad he didn’t, he got A*AA in his A Levels (Maths, physics, computer science) in 2023 and preferred to spend the extra time on his other subjects to get better grades in those rather than extra maths (the A* he got was in maths). At the end of the day universities (particularly the top ones) prefer 3 good A levels over 4 less good A Levels so it’s better to spend your time on 3 rather than 4. My brother is now at Uni of Birmingham doing the MEng Electrical Engineering degree and said that the first year maths modules were covering further maths topics so he was taught these and enjoyed them! He didn’t feel behind in comparison to those who’d done further maths, and in fact, from the sounds of it not many people did further maths on his course.

Hope this helps. Good luck deciding!
