need help getting a job at superdrug or boots

I want to get a part-time job as a customer advisor at a health and beauty retailer but it's just not working for me idrk if I'm doing it correctly. I wrote a CV and went to superdrug, they took it and asked for my availability but I havent heard back since then. I don't have previous experience but I do volunteering at a charity shop so I deal with customers and stuff. Is it smth with my personal statement? If anyone works for like superdrug, boots, or holland and barrett please let me know what u did or give me advice !

Hey, I can only speak for boots but hopefully this will help. My best friend works at boots full-time as she’s on a gap year. She said that most staff have had previous customer service experience (including her as she’s worked in customer service since 16 and she’s now 21) but a couple of staff have been employed at 16 with no prior experience so I guess it just depends how your cv and interview looks!

Definitely volunteering in a charity shop gives you many skills which will give you the edge over those without experience 🙂 I don’t think my friend wrote a cover letter for her boots job although I could be wrong.

As for the boots interview, my friend said it was pretty easy and quite informal with her manager, but I guess there’s differences between different stores!

Boots are known to only ever employ new staff for their Christmas period tho (they start as Christmas temps but it’s up to the manager(s) to decide whether they are kept on). But Boots will be starting their applications from September (or maybe even now!) so keep an eye out as it is the right time to start looking! 🙂

Good luck with the job search!
