I’ve worked for the ambulance service as a technician for 5 years before applying for uni this year to be a paramedic. The hours totally depend on your mentor on any given shift. Your mentor could be on a 12 hour line or a 10 hour line. However, your placement hours won’t be 10 or 12. You should aim to get to the ambulance station 30 minutes before the shift start time. This will give you enough time to check the vehicle for supplies (on your first day give you familiarisation time). But you should always expect to finish late. Never make plans for after shift.
