Clearing and applying for a different course

I originally planned to take a gap year this year and start university in 2025, however i’ve changed my mind and want to start this year. I do have a UCAS account as I applied earlier this year but for a different course, and at different universities, so I declined my offers as I thought I would just reapply in my gap year.
I was wondering if it would be possible to be able to go through clearing for another course without the appropriate personal statement, if that makes sense.
Also, how would student finance work, as I didn’t apply for that as i didn’t think i’d be going!

If it's a totally different course, it might be a good idea to write a new personal statement to have more chances of getting in. You should ask the university you're applying to and they'll tell you whether a new personal statement can be sent in

If you are waiting for your results in August then use the time to apply for student finance asap (the sooner you apply the lower the chance you’ll be paid late and if you are paid late the smaller the delay is likely to be). Just guess a likely university and course for SFE.

Also use the time to draft a short alternative PS. Most universities won’t ask for this but if they do then it’s good to have on hand. Writing it will also help if you are asked questions or speak to academic staff about your course choice - if you’ve written a PS then it will be easier to talk fluently about your reasons for picking this course than if you’re completely unprepared.
