Hey there 😀

As a third-year student at De Montfort University (DMU) I will gladly share some insight on social events at DMU and student life in Leicester 🤗

DMU offers a wide range of social events and activities. There is always something going on. We receive a weekly newsletter with all exciting options, so it is easy to stay on track and not miss them. Here is an overview:

Freshers' week is the perfect time to meet new people and get a taste of university life. There are parties, fairs, and introductory events for clubs and societies.

With around 100 societies, ranging from academic and cultural to special interests and niche hobbies, you will find your crowd here. Additionally, if you are into sports, DMU has a variety of teams you can join, whether you are looking to compete or just play for fun.

Regular events range from movie nights and pub quizzes to cultural celebrations and themed parties. I love their diversity and organisation. They are always a great fun 🤩

When it comes to Leicester, it is a lively and student-friendly city. You can look forward to cultural diversity. This means you will get to experience a wide range of cultural festivals, cuisines, and events. The city boasts a vibrant nightlife with a mix of pubs, bars, and clubs. What is more, Leicester has a thriving music and arts scene. Venues like the O2 Academy and De Montfort Hall regularly host live music and other performances. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are beautiful parks like Abbey Park and Victoria Park where you can relax, have picnics, or go for a jog.

On a final note, it is, honestly, a great choice for students, as there are plenty of affordable student housing options close to both campus and city centre, making it easy to navigate around. I have everything I need within a short walking distance and I think that is one of the greatest advantages 😅

I hope it was helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me orother students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Take care,
