Maintainance loans at open uni as a disabled student

Hi I want to do open uni, I have fibromyalgia, pcos, endometriosis, cptsd, migraines, folate deficiency etc.
Does anyone have experiences of applying with any of these conditions for maintenance loans? What do I need to show as evidence, how difficult was it, or what other disability support is there?
I couldn’t physically attend a brick uni with out it affecting attendance etc but I really want to. I’m 32 and never had the opportunities before when I was younger. I receive PIP daily living component and UC (which I know uc will be impacted but still)

Thanks for any advice

You can create an account with them here:

I know that they ask for medical evidences from your GP or other qualified medical personnel.
Call them at 03001000607 and ask all your questions or wait because they are answering here as well, on this forum.
All the best & good luck!

Are you talking about Disabled student allowance? If so the money doesn’t go to you and the money is only able to be spend on for specialist equipment, medical helpers, travel and other disability repeated things and the evidence you need is just a doctor Letter saying your diagnosis and how it affects you long term then after that you will get letter about what happens next

Not if you are a FULL student, but if you are part-time or distance learning, the only way to receive MAINTENANCE loan is IF the student is disabled & cannot attend classes as a full student (in person) because of his/her medical condition.... 📚🙂✌️

My experience is very straight forward, my GP supplied a letter, and I sent that and it was all approved. Just applied again for my second year and it was all approved within 12 days.
